Here for the SPICY hook.

I didn’t know that about haikus and seasons!! That’s beautiful.

I’m feeling inspired by that fact. And Ozu’s movies sound like they might be perfect for me.

An unrequested haiku for you:

Your movie is here

Written inside your head, but

it takes time to bloom.

Enjoy the calm and adventures, friend.

Living is writing. You probably won't realize how much progress you're actually making just by surrendering to where you are, and being there, until your script draft is done and you see the way it informed the whole.

More and more I feel not only Ozu or haikus, but JAPAN would be perfect for you! Proposing you make this your next destination :)

"Living is writing", SO much truth there. And reading all that helps a lot, gives so much perspective.

Really flattered and humbled to receive a haiku by you. It's so reassuring. I plan to re-read it constantly to calm the mind. So glad you used "bloom", it's been in my mind a lot. Also ending a line with "but" is so Japanese, Ozu has THREE movie titles that end with "but", and is a big part of Japanese mannerisms that one we have to discuss.

I'm telling you, you might be half Japanese!

Thank you, thank you, my dear friend.

Honestly, yeah, I agree!

The word "bloom" has been SO top of mind for me. Glad it's resonating for you too.

Maybe I should write myself one to calm my own mind lol. Oh man, me and Ozu are truly one.

Hahahaha half Japanese...Oscar....😂

“I feel behind on everything except living.” -- nothing else to add to the supreme beauty of this line. So glad to see this great essay end there, on that tone.

Such a beautiful piece, Oscar.

I too love that line. And thank you for sharing the term forest-bathing. It sounds so soothing and refreshing.

Life may not flow perfectly with the seasons and with the passing of time. I reminded of the timelessness within us, which we can tune into through meditation or spirituality or something else that reminds us how grand this all is.

Another lovely edition of Zen on the rocks, Oscar!

Thank YOU dear Rachael! Glad you liked it and also loved the "timelessness within us", you're so right that we're inches, or seconds, away from it and be reminded of that. Thanks a lot for your thoughtful comment and support!

Writing zero words and just living seems like it’s exactly what you should be doing at this time. Before long you’ll be back to regular life, and you’ll look back and feel good about what you’re doing now. Keep it up. Im sure all this living will manifest fruit downstream, probably in unexpected and wonderful ways.

Helpful and reassuring to read this, you're completely right and just have to keep embracing the situation, as the results will "manifest downstream" as you accurately say. Thank you so much dear Jon!

¡QUE. UN. DICHO! pero esta no la verdad vida de mexicano cuando nosotros decimos como ahorita y sin prisa y cosas como esta?

All work is crisis. Might as well bathe in the bosque and show up to the mess clean if only to give it an example to follow!

I wish you the best my friend. Sacarle la jugo de la aventura!

El "ahorita" es delicioso, pero demasiado es peligroso. Gracias por el recordatorio de integrarlo cuando no hay suficiente! Siempre inyectando una buena perspectiva, mi buen amigo.

"All work is crisis", completely accurate. Makes me think of "Every startup is a sinking ship", just trying to figure out how to keep it afloat is stimulating, and as you beautifully point out, might as well show up clean to it!

Y así será mi estimado!! Gracias por ser parte de ella!

Spicy intro!!! This was so lovely to read. I learned a lot and also laughed at the part where you quoted yourself because I found it so relatable. I’m happy to hear you are not just enjoying Japan, but also taking it in. There is always plenty of time to write, it’s important to prioritize living. Big fan of the haiku at the end! I did not know they should reference seasons.

Here’s my inspired haiku:

Where do the words go

Spring presence winter writing

Forest bathe, Oscar

Wow Michelle, your comment is pure gold! A first, receiving a haiku! And so beautiful... completely right, there's a time and place for everything and right now is "winter writing" and "prioritizing living". I'm glad you learned and enjoyed while reading, and also that you related, since you're clearly an example of someone that prioritizes living and enjoying the moment.

Thank you so, so much. Forest bathe, Michelle :)
